Good morning at all.
With this post I want to express my opinion about the resolutions approved by the ALDE Congress, which took place in Warsaw few days ago.
This is the first time I attend an ALDE Congress, and in general it is the first time I attend a european-level political congress. The debate was very interesting and I really liked the possibility it offered to so many people - and especially so many young people - with different backgrounds and nationality to discuss their opinions about the shared future of Europe. The Congress debated about many different issues, from sharing economy and the digital market to human rights in Ukraine and Russia, from brexit to the right to abortion.
The resolution I was the most interested in is the one about the sharing economy. On this issue, the congress has commited ALDE party to support innovation and entrepreneurship, remove barriers to digital trade, facilitate market access to new entrants and preserve the integrity of the single market. The Resolution encourages the European Commission to take initiatives, in line with EU competences, to set up a stakeholder group, involving private operators and public authorities with relevant competences, in charge of promoting best practices in the sharing economy sector. I am convinced that we need to study innovative regulatory solutions, promote public-private cooperation in abolishing the existing barriers within the single market and facilitate the diffusion of digital identity to build consumers trust in online transactions, and develop digital solutions for the payment of taxes.
This is what we are in part already doing in Italy, with a specific focus on the sharing economy sector. I believe that the sharing economy is an important complementary market, especially in a time of crisis as the one we are living in. The same is true for other forms of circular economy. The resolution adopted on this last issue goes, too, in the right direction.
